The Kaupapa
“It has been my lifelong dream to have a centre of learning equipped with the best resources available; where young people are faithfully supported to reach their true potential.
I want what I wish I had had for my five children when they were little – teachers who genuinely cared; teachers who appreciated their quirky ways of learning; who had high expectations; who demanded a lot, but still trod carefully, to prevent anxiety and protect self-esteem .”
— Dr Elizabeth Sneyd, Founder
At the Music & Maths Learning Centre we try not to overdo the educational clichés. We know you are all different (thank God) but we still believe in good old-fashioned values like homework and hard work. We want you to be able to relax in class and be yourself, but we still have rules to enforce – and that means, for example; no phones and no frivolous ‘toilet breaks’. We aim for clear and transparently structured tutoring , based on global best practices. But we also know our students have different strengths and learn at different rates, so one size definitely does not fit all. We like to celebrate both excellence and exceptional effort; however we definitely favour collaboration over competition. We think talent is great (and some lucky people start life with a lot of this), but we believe it is little use on its own – particularly without a moral compass or a positive work ethic. We believe that the biggest gift of all is being taught how to teach oneself. We will support you to always keep striving, and to always keep reaching for a better understanding of the wonderful world we live in.
We want to operate a fair business which works for everyone. We respect your opinion and welcome your feedback or comments.
